The Media Wall
a furniture design for an existing space

A completed proposal to redesign a wall for entertainment purposes in an existing livingroom.
The media wall is a design for a client passionate about wine & music. The design of the furniture is meant to integrate the wall as a dominant piece of the room and allow for the space to be utilised as dining space, media space for movies, gaming & music, as well as storage space. The main hallenge of the project was to integrate the existing furniture, varying wood tones and existing infrastructure such as heating pipes and an old AC unit. In order to create a unitary wall composition the design included a heater & AC mask, made out of wood panels, as well as a contrasting light unit to complete the wall.
A personal request was the inclusion of old wine bottles for an easy access while at the dinning table. This was included in the furniture design and further developed in the design of a bar cabinet that can be easily moved around the livingroom depending on the ongoing activities & positioning of the modular couch. The bar design expands to a full bar top, allowing for drinks to be made outside of the limited kitchen space, while the closed bar design allows the bar to pass as a normal cabinet.
